2020 Moonlight Cinema & Ripview Swim Recap

13 January 2020

The first week of January saw two major events take place on the Point Lonsdale events calendar – the annual Moonlight Cinema hosted by The Point and 2020 Rip View Swim Classic.

The Point hosted its sixth annual Moonlight Cinema event on Friday 3 January. Point Lonsdale locals and visitors enjoyed a free screening of the box office hit Aladdin (2019).

Held for the first time at the new Town Park, more than 250 moviegoers were treated to a sausage sizzle run by the Point Lonsdale Surf Life Saving Club as well as complimentary ice-creams, fairy floss, popcorn and coffee.

Moremac Property Group Director Bryce Moore was pleased to see the new park in action.

“Our new park at The Point served as a great venue this year for the Moonlight Cinema, with plenty of open lawn space for and a brand-new children’s playground to keep the little ones entertained before the film began.”

Two days later, on Sunday 5 January, The Point sponsored the 32nd Rip View Classic – an open water swimming competition, with more than 1,000 swimmers taking on 1.4km or 3.8km races along the Queenscliff and Point Lonsdale coastline.

Congratulations to this year’s winners Robbe Dilissen and Rebecca Henderson, who won both the 1.4km and 3.8km swims in the open category. It was a great day out for competitors and spectators alike.
